The link between poverty and academic achievement, particularly in terms of test scores, has long been established. But what has gotten less attention is the very strong variation in test score achievement among students at different levels of poverty. Students whose families are so poor that they qualify for free lunch score significantly lower than students from low-income families who qualify for reduced-price lunch.
