Can you guess the inspiration for the T-shirts? New Jersey has nothing on the Bronx!

Nearly 100 UFT members and staffers who took part in the Bronx Columbus Day parade marched proudly down Morris Park Avenue on Oct. 8, and didn’t let a little rain dampen their spirits. It was the union’s first time participating in — and sponsoring — the parade. “It was a great time, rain and all,” said Dana Falciglia, the educational liaison for the UFT’s Bronx borough office. Afterward, the group set up a tent and shared pizza. Falciglia called it a fitting way to both honor and enjoy the contributions of Italian-Americans to this country’s history. The Bronx UFT also participated in a gala dinner the week before the parade to kick off the festivities. “I can’t wait to do it again next year,” said Falciglia.
