  • Igniting Writing Instruction to Strengthen Student Engagement (LearnUFT Queens) Workshop 8:30 am - 10:30 am

    At this LearnUFT session for Queens teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will practice strategies for engaging students productively in the writing process, make connections between pre-writing activities and the writing process, and experience activities which facilitate writing through speaking and listening. Participants will earn two CTLE hours.

    At this LearnUFT session for Queens teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will define Specially Designed Instruction, understand the barriers to learning as they apply to the most common classifications for students with disabilities, identify strategies to address student needs, and specially design instruction (using an IEP) to meet the unique needs of a student. Participants will earn two CTLE hours.

  • Working Together: Integrated Partnerships in the ENL Classroom (LearnUFT Queens) Workshop 8:30 am - 10:30 am

    At this LearnUFT session for Queens teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will explore the value of teacher partnerships when supporting English Language Learners in the integrated classroom, consider the components of effective co-teaching, and build a toolbox of techniques for the integrated ENL classroom. Participants will earn two CTLE hours.

    Our course for informal (legally-exempt) providers covers everything! We offer a broad range of topics including food and fire safety, behavior management, early childhood education and infant nutrition.     In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will examine research-based practices to support students before reading complex text, experience pre-reading activities that encourage students to make connections that will foster deeper comprehension during reading and apply strategies that motivate and engage students with task and text. Participants will earn two CTLE hours.
