  • Math Rules! That Impact Students' Mathematical Understanding: Tips and Tricks (LearnUFT Bronx) Workshop 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
    2500 Halsey St., (entrance on Commerce Ave.),
    Bronx, NY

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Bronx teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will advance knowledge to deepen understanding of numbers and operations in base ten (P-5) and number systems (6-12) through engaging in professional collaboration and develop a toolkit of effective instructional strategies to support the standards for mathematical practice and the instructional shifts. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

  • Igniting Writing Instruction to Strengthen Student Engagement (LearnUFT Manhattan) Workshop 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

    In this LearnUFT workshop for Manhattan teachers and paraprofessionals, participants will practice strategies for engaging students productively in the writing process, make connections between pre-writing activities and the writing process and experience activities that facilitate writing through speaking and listening. Two CTLE hours will be offered.

    Substitute teachers and paraprofessionals are invited to a pension workshop with Victoria Lee, a UFT member representative in the pension department. Refreshments will be served. Registration is required.

  • Using G Suite for Educators (LearnUFT High Schools) Workshop 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

    Classroom technology can enhance instruction, promote student learning, and cultivate an environment of respect and engagement. In this workshop, participants will learn the ways in which the Google G Suite for Education can be used to facilitate classroom collaboration, streamline parental engagement, and bring dynamism to everyday instruction. Participants will learn how to access the cloud, create and share files, as well as collaborate on projects with colleagues and students. You must have an active Gmail account to participate in this workshop. This course is only open for participants in need of CTLE credits.
