Understand and manage your roles and responsibilities as a speech professional at the sixth and final session of our Speech Survival Class. If you have worked three years or less as a speech professional, or are returning to work after a prolonged absence, this course is for you. Register for a free workshop from the UFT and Apple. Participants will earn one CTLE hour. In this session, which builds upon the introduction to Apple’s translation and accessibility tools, we’ll study additional Apple apps — including Voice Memos, Clips, Pages, Numbers and Keynote — that can empower creative learning experiences. We’ll also examine how these apps and features can help paraprofessionals create differentiated, dynamic content that inspires students to be creative when showing what they know. Before registering for this session, it is recommended but not required to have also attended the “Getting Started With Apple’s Translation and Accessibility Tools” session.

In this UFT Member Assistance Program (MAP) workshop for social workers and psychologists, participants will expand upon this to explore the interplay of trauma and substance use, highlighting substance misuse as both a survival and a pleasure-seeking strategy. Get a better understanding of LGBTQ+ clients' experiences seeking substance use treatment and the importance of creating a safe, welcoming environment. This training will also help participants to identify key components of care for LGBTQ+ people and to develop skills to improve their delivery of trauma-informed, affirmative care. Earn two CE hours by completing this course.
