As you know, some of our upstate communities have been greatly affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. Due to severe water damage and flooding, some schools have just reopened and others are still closed. Because many homes and businesses have been destroyed, this historic flooding demands an immediate response.
The UFT Disaster Relief Fund is collecting donations to help our upstate NYSUT brothers and sisters rebuild their communities and get back to their everyday lives.
UFT volunteers in Schoharie, NY
Schoharie, a small town west of Albany, was devastated by Hurricane Irene. The Schoharie Teachers Association has made it their mission to help the town rebuild. On Oct. 9, UFT members traveled to Schoharie to lend a hand.
