Results of the Education Officer exam

The Department of Citywide Administrative Services has posted the results of the Education Officer exam on the DCAS website and will begin reaching out to Education Officers individually this week with their test scores. If you do not receive your results by Wednesday, July 19, please contact DCAS at 212-669-1357

Education Officers who passed the test are eligible for appointments as permanent Education Officers. They must serve probationary periods and are entitled to the benefits of permanent employees. Once  probation is over, Education Officers will be entitled to additional due process rights.

If you did not pass the test, unfortunately, civil service law does not permit you to remain as an education officer and you are subject to termination. Some of you, however, may qualify as an associate education officer. Please speak with your supervisor as soon as possible about your eligibility for this position and let us know what you are told.

You may be eligible for state unemployment. The most reliable information about unemployment is on the Worker’s Defense League's website. We also recommend that you visit the DOE website to look for other job opportunities. In addition, please call DCAS at 212-669-1357 for information about future exams.

If you have any questions or concerns about the status of your employment, please contact me at emendez@uft.org. I know this may be a difficult time for some of you. We will try to make it a little easier.

On a related note, we would like to hear from those of you who may have been offered other positions in the same office but under a different title. Please, let us know by filling out this online form.
