JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

The UFT Secondary Charter School

Position: School Aide

Location of Activity: 800 Van Siclen Ave., Brooklyn, NY 11207

Deadline: April 30, 2008

Qualifications:

  1. A belief that all students can achieve academic and personal excellence
  2. A belief in the importance of public education as a means to prepare a democratic citizenry
  3. Demonstrated ability to problem solve effectively
  4. Good communication skills
  5. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member and with parents/guardians
  6. Demonstrated ability to work with supervisors and other school based staff
  7. Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with the School Leader, teachers and other staff in a school founded on democratic values and committed to democratic governance
  8. Excellent record of attendance and punctuality

Responsibilities:

  1. Commit to and promote the school’s mission, purpose, and core values
  2. Work with and take direction from the classroom teacher, School Coordinator of Operations and Outreach, and School Leader to address individual needs of students
  3. Perform other school duties as necessary to support the school
  4. Reinforce good student conduct through the use of positive behavior supports as outlined by the school code of conduct
  5. Interact with members of the school community in a positive manner
  6. Assist with attendance procedures
  7. Assume clerical responsibilities, as assigned
  8. Assist during arrival and dismissal procedures
  9. Assist during school breakfast and lunch
