Program for Cancer Patients

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, in collaboration with the Sallie Mae Fund, developed the Trish Greene Back to School Program for the Child with Cancer to foster communication among health-care professionals, parents, young patients and school personnel in preparation for a child’s return to school after cancer treatment. This program aims to make the transition between the clinic and classroom comfortable for children and school officials.

The society provides informative materials, videos, and a wealth of literature to parents, health-care professionals and school personnel to ensure that schools are better-equipped to receive and educate children undergoing cancer treatment.

If requested, the Society’s staff members will make individual visits to schools to coordinate and present workshops with school staff and the child’s parents.
In addition to the Trish Greene Back to School Program, the Society provides many other resources, such as emotional and financial support for patients and caregivers.
