You may request assistance from the Peer Intervention Program

For more than 19 years, the Peer Intervention Program has provided assistance to New York City teachers who need to strengthen their classroom performance. In recent years, in response to your requests, PIP has expanded its services to include guidance counselors as well.

The one-on-one assistance, which is voluntary, confidential and non-evaluative, is designed to help you reach two main goals: to become a more effective service provider and to be a more valued member of your school community.
If you participate, you will have a veteran guidance counselor — someone with demonstrated counseling and peer assistance skills — assigned as your intervenor. As with teachers, guidance counselors who do not achieve their professional goals may utilize another program component that enables participants to explore alternative career options.

You can read more about the Peer Intervention Program in Article 15.I of the Guidance Counselor contract.
