- I hope you had a great summer and you are well rested. I am excited be to starting my first year of the three-year term as the newly elected chapter leader of HES. It is my hope that this year will be even better than last year.

- As a chapter leader, I have being meeting with HES teachers from the different boroughs last month and this month. I hope to get to all the boroughs by the end of the year. It has been such a pleasure to encounter such a great group of involved, energetic and caring teachers who serve our hearing-impaired students with such dedication and love. Cecilia Cortez

- "This has been a difficult year due to changes in Monthly Service Cards, travel reimbursement, teacher shortages, administrative shortages and threats of changes in the organization. Unfortunately, some of these issues remain open and it has been very difficult to resolve them." - Rose O'Connor
