Mandatory Influenza Vaccination

Effective August 13, 2009, an emergency regulation (Subpart 66-3) was enacted by the New York State Department of Health (DOH) mandating that “health care facility personnel” receive the influenza vaccine(s); both seasonal and H1N1. According to the mandate the vaccine is to be provided free of cost by the facility or personnel may submit documentation that the vaccine was received elsewhere. Existing employees must receive the vaccine(s) by November 30 of each year. Persons hired after November 30 but before April 1 will be evaluated for his or her status for influenza vaccination(s) and will be required to receive the vaccination(s) if found deficient.
