A paraprofessional at Edward R. Murrow HS for three years, Christopher Warfield is very sensitive to the needs of his special education students who require everything from toileting to academic assistance. He has been working as a one-to-one para and is most proud of helping his young charge, a wheelchair-bound student with cerebral palsy, to learn to read.
Chris received a UFT award in 2005 for being an “outstanding paraprofessional,” and is studying for his B.A. while participating in the Career Ladder Program.
He is a member of the union’s chapter committee, and is invariably a major asset in all UFT activities. He volunteers as a youth counselor on weekends and during the summer. Chris especially enjoys “experiencing every day the synergy of Murrow, which fills me with so many special and wonderful memories.”
