Permanent Job Security continued
Senior Credit for Prior Service
All paras will automatically receive seniority
credit for all service after July 1, 1994. For paras who worked prior to
July 1, 1994, and who changed districts prior to that
date, the DOE will
not have records of your service because that is when it shifted to a computerized
database.
Paras who do not have their pre-1994 service as a para credited toward their
seniority may apply to the DOE Division of Human Resources to receive such
credit by providing documentation. A list of examples of acceptable documentation
is being developed.
Some examples of documentation school officials have suggested include: payroll
check stubs, W2 forms, copies of old District seniority lists and payroll
lists. Your para rep will help you figure out what to use.
Window of Opportunity – October 15, 2006 -February 15, 2007
Paraprofessionals will have this four-month window of opportunity to submit documentation to the Division of Human Resources for credit for pre-1994 service. All application decisions by DHR are final and are not grievable.
