Social Worker and Psychologist Newsletter

Dear Colleague,

As this most difficult year is drawing to a close, I would like to acknowledge your professionalism and hard work in addressing the needs of the children of New York City. I hope that your summer will be relaxing and enjoyable.

Union Initiated Grievances:

Our grievances challenging the Open Market Transfer Plan and Clustering were heard on May 19 at Step 3. We have not received a decision, to date. We intend to pursue them to arbitration if necessary.

AUG. 31:

Remember, this is the date that we report back to work this year.

SBSTs who do not have retention, or who are in excess and who have not secured a position through the Open Market, should report to their CSE on August 31 to await assignment.

Related Service Providers and General Education Social Workers who are in excess and who have not secured a position through the Open Market, should report to their schools on August 31 to await assignment.

If your school is closing, and you have not secured a position through the Open Market, you should report to the administrative office/ROC/CSE on August 31 to await assignment.

No one will lose their job!

Annual Clinician Appreciation Day:

Our UFT-sponsored professional development day will be held on Jan. 25, 2007. This will be a menu item. More information to follow.

Summer Hours:

Should you have a question or need assistance, UFT Headquarters is open all summer. The hours are Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. I look forward to seeing you all again in August.

Fraternally,

Ann Englesbe
Chapter Leader
