All UFT members are urged to come to the union’s June 2 rally at Madison Square Garden to show the world how important this rally is in our contract fight.The rally will also feature announcement of the report card grades members gave to Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Chancellor Joel Klein.
Don’t expect a lot of A’s.
The Garden rally has been scheduled to coincide with the two-year anniversary of UFT members working without a new contract. The union organized the event to dramatize the outrage that UFT-represented educators feel with the city’s refusal to negotiate a contract and treat them with respect.
There is still time to sign up for the rally. The Garden requires that people have a ticket to get into any event there. School-based members should see their chapter leader to get a ticket. Members who are not based at a school should call their UFT borough office to request a ticket.
Tickets are being given out on a first-come, first-served basis.
Doors open at 3:30 p.m., and the Report Card Day rally will run from 4 to 6 p.m.
