There were lots of smiles and congratulations to go around during a graduation ceremony for 32 members who were awarded a master’s degree in speech pathology. The distance-learning program was created to address the problem of a chronic shortage of speech teachers. It is a collaborative effort by the UFT Teacher Center, the Department of Education, the State Education Department and Western Kentucky University. The event took place Sept. 14 at UFT headquarters in Manhattan.
