Meeting the Members
Getting Connected Through E-mail

Mindy Karten Bornemann has been traveling throughout the city this year to meet and speak to members of the speech chapter. All 2,000 members had the opportunity to meet and ask questions about their rights, tenure, seniority and the new DOE restructuring. Bornemann also provided them with seniority lists so members could track their overall history in the DOE. Members were assured that their seniority follows them if they transfer or change schools though the Open Market Transfer Plan.

Bornemann also has been collecting personal e-mail addresses so all chapter members can keep in touch. A separate ASHA e-mail list has also been generated so those members can get information for important Continuing Education Unit workshops, and other issues related to the national organization.

Although newsletters are a popular way to share information, e-mails can be sent quickly without waiting for printing, and mailing. All newsletters will be posted on this Web site. If we don’t yet have your personal e-mail address, please send it to MBornemann@uft.org — include your name, district and phone number.
