Welcome to the Home Instruction Chapter

Dear colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the UFT Home Instruction web page.

Home Instruction is designed to meet the academic needs of students while they are confined to their homes because of medical, orthopedic and/or serious emotional conditions.

As many know, the homebound program provides individual instruction that follows the curriculum as prescribed in the student's most recent educational program. This often includes modifications specific to each student. As a result of our program, students are able to return to school with little or no loss of educational progress, and in many cases our one-on-one instruction leads to increased progress.

Students, parents, teachers and the Home Instruction School Leadership Team work collaboratively to help ensure that all children are successful. This includes following a prescribed curriculum designed to maximize learning and achievement as well as address performance standards.

I hope everyone has a productive, healthy and happy school year. Information will be disseminated at all monthly staff conferences in each of the boroughs.

Please feel free to contact me at 718-862-6059 or by e-mail at gboyle@uft.org.

Fraternally,

George Boyle
Chapter Leader
