Begs to differ

Opinion

In the article “Art is everywhere” [Nov. 5], Ceclia Chong says that she was invited to “curate a show of art teachers who have a full career as an artist as well — not just work on the side.” That statement is derogatory to teachers who “work on the side” or don’t have a “full career” in addition to working full time as a teacher and/or raising a family.

Also, in the article “Art for a cause,” the statement “While they may never be van Goghs, 50 UFT members raised $1,000 for breast cancer research” is also a derogatory remark. The author doesn’t have a crystal ball (or a positive attitude).
