Social and Recreational Committee
Founded by past UFT president Sandra Feldman, the primary goal of the Social and Recreational Committee is to involve new and retired teachers in the life of our union. The committee acomplishes this goal by organizing and hosting a wide array of social and recreational activities including both one- and multi-day trips. In the past, members have visited Lancaster, Pennsylvania to go shopping; attended the lobster festival in Cape Mary, Maryland; and traveled to Philadelphia for the annual Philadelphia Flower Show, among many other trips. We have also organized a local cruise in conjunction with District 15 and, before the advent of the UFT-wide Christmas party, hosted an annual holiday party.

All UFT members are eligible to join. Non-UFT personnel, including university employees and union members affiliated with the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, NYSUT, or AFT, may serve as associate members.
