UFT Runners
The UFT has had a social and competitive running team for over 20 years. Historically, the Corporate Challenges are the center of our year, although we have also competed as a team in a number of other races over the years. Our members range from those looking to walk and hang out at an event to those who are highly competitive. Currently we have a database membership of over 200 people. Some like to be updated and have never attended an event. Others have shown up for each and everything we’ve done over two plus decades.
You can find our results under United Federation of Teachers, UFT Runners and “Board of Education.” (For the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge series they consider us a corporation and we have run this race for years thus we run under our old “corporate” name of Board of Education.)
Some people choose us as a team when they run New York Road Runner races. Please feel free to do this even if we have not organized to officially run as a team in these races. If you want to informally meet up at a NYRR race, contact Matt Panetta at mattpanetta@mac.com.
In 2008 we resurrected our squad after a few years off as Richie Orazem decided that over 15 years on the job was enough for him and handed over the reigns of leadership. He continues to run and lead the team in his role as “Past-Chair.”
If you have any questions about our team and/or want to be added to our database, please contact Chairperson Kevin Miller at Kevinsmiller2002@yahoo.com.
