Did you get an excessing letter

If you have received an excessing letter from your principal, this does not mean that you are in excess. All excessing of staff must be approved by the central DOE.

The first day of school, Sept. 4, is the effective date of excess; therefore, a member is not officially in excess until that date. Go to the Open Market Transfer System website [bit.ly/1uZI45g] to check your status. The site contains a “check your status” button on the left-hand side of the home page.

Please note that there will be an indication on the “check your status” page if the excess has been approved. Also, if you accept a position during the open market transfer period (April 15–Aug. 7), it will be considered a transfer even if your excess was not approved.
