ESL / Bilingual Committee
The ESL / Bilingual Committee of the UFT is comprised of educators K-12. We believe that ESL and Bilingual approaches both have their place in the NYC School System, both separately and complementarily. The goal is to help students function as full members of our American society.
As such, we profile classroom strategies that encompass both methodologies.
The goal of the Committee is to learn the best techniques that will enable us to better serve our diverse student population.
To this end, we have speakers, both in-service and from outside agencies, who will demonstrate up-to-date materials, strategies and resources that can be incorporated as cross curricular tools in the classroom. When called upon, we will be advocates for our students, the institutions that serve them and programs and techniques that have proven successful.
