Jewish Heritage Committee

The objective of the Jewish Heritage Committee is to enhance the understanding among all educators of the role of the Jewish Community in New York City — through various cultural activities, professional development workshops and interaction with the Jewish Community. We aim to serve as the bridge linking the labor movement and the organized Jewish Community in our effort to strengthen and develop a society based on economic and social justice for all.

The Jewish Labor Committee engages in an ongoing recruitment process involving new teachers, regular teachers, support staff, retirees and other trade unionists who can offer their experience and expertise. Non-UFTers, including university employees and members of unions affilitated with the New York City Labor Council, AFL-CIO, NYSUT or AFT, may serve as associate members.
