Science Committee

UFT Science Committee Mission Statement
The Science Committee, a professional committee of the UFT, was established to provide members with opportunities to hone their expertise in the sciences. At the Committee’s monthly meetings, lectures and/or workshops are given by fellow teachers and presenters from the scientific and engineering academic and industrial communities. The presentations are coordinated with other metro area professional, educational, and scientific organizations. This provides the members with opportunities to network with professionals who work in the various science disciplines, not just their own certifications. This is important because science teachers may have to teach the different science specialties. The meeting schedules are posted in The United Federation of Teachers' New York Teacher newspaper. Professional Development/Continuing Education two (2) hour certificates of attendance are available at every meeting.
