New York State requires all teachers who are seeking provisional or permanent state certification to take a course in how to recognize and report suspicion of child abuse. This course meets requirements for state certification. It is a one-day, 2-hour session and the content includes definitions of child abuse, indications that it has happened, and what procedures you should follow if you suspect that one of your students has been abused.
The UFT offers this course to members for a nominal fee of $10.00 and to non-members for $25.00. (Fees are not refundable.) New York State mandates that participants be present at the start of the course in order to receive the state certificate. The course session begins promptly at the listed times and dates. The CHILD ABUSE RECOGNITION coupon can be accessed online, downloaded and used to prepare your registration. Click here to access coupon: http://www.ufttc.org/cnferences.html.
Follow the directions on the coupon to register. Please note that both the Registration Coupon and payment must be mailed to the address on the coupon.
