Peer Intervention Program
This program gives teachers a chance to begin to take charge of their own professional standards and address instructional issues — to demonstrate that what teachers are really about is providing the best possible education for the kids of New York City.
A key to PIP’s success is the personal and confidential help participants receive while in intervention. PIP is a cooperative effort of the United Federation of Teachers and the Department of Education. It offers a unique opportunity for educators to plan their own professional development and practice it with a highly skilled Intervenor. Along with classroom intervention, PIP offers additional services such as the Alternative Careers Component and the Counseling Support Service for those participants who identify a need. PIP is a nationally acclaimed peer assistance program receiving prestigious awards and presenting workshops at national conferences such as NSDC and ASCD.
