A Message from the Committee Chair: Carolyn Herbst

Dear Colleagues:

I wish you all a healthy and happy New Year. Thank you for coming to our general meetings, our steering committee meetings and our holiday dinner, and for using our Web site. I recognize that it is difficult for many committee members to come to our meetings and therefore our Web site is of increasing importance.

We are embarking on a new adventure by relying more on Web site usage. Our meeting dates, program speakers, cultural and special events and activities, as well as this newsletter, including a “picture gallery,” will be available primarily through our Web site; there will be only two committee membership mailings per year.

Of course, our Web site will continue to have information about our committee’s work in helping get reasonable accommodations for UFT members under the Americans with Disabilities Act and New York State and New York City Human Rights law. We provide important and pertinent information as well as useful links to other informative Web sites.

As more and more committee members become computer literate and, if necessary, avail themselves of the accommodation features for people with disabilities that computer technology can provide, we will continue our adventurous journey together as the world of tomorrow becomes possible today.

I would like to thank our UFT Committee Liaison Eugene Rubin for so beautifully maintaining our Web site and for helping UFT members, and our other committee staff, Bonita Gibson, Abbe Nosoff and George Fesko for the fine work that they do.
