headphonesNew York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer and eight national theater chains have reached an agreement that will provide captioning and narration services to moviegoers with visual and hearing impairments. This could affect approximately 140 theaters throughout New York State, Spitzer said.
The movie chains include AMC Entertainment and Loews Cineplex. Helping to accommodate people with both hearing and visual disabilities, these facilities have agreed to install equipment which includes listening devices that are compatible with hearing aids and headsets that provide narration of dialogue. Theater-goers with disabilities will be able to enjoy first-run movies at these theater chains. (Disability Compliance Bulletin, Dec. 22, 2005).
