A Message from Eugene Rubin, our UFT Liaison

Dear Colleagues:

This year is turning out to be yet another banner year for our committee. Our speakers are more and more dynamic, covering a wide variety of exciting and varied topics. And of course, this dynamism is reflected in the content of our Web site and our newsletter.

The committee has also initiated new programs, such as group dinners, museum excursions and a meet-the-members series. At one of these, recently, we were able to see a different side of our chairperson: Carolyn Herbst world traveler. Carolyn told us about being a Fulbright scholar in India and she presented her knowledge about textiles. We hope you will attend future sessions when we have the opportunity to see some of our committee colleagues in a fresh light, as individuals outside the role of educators.

Incidentally, after Carolyn was interviewed by a UFT reporter for our Educators Unlimited newsletter, the reporter arranged for her to be interviewed by two New York City middle school students and, unexpectedly, that interview was posted on the New York Post Web site.
