A Message from the Chairperson: Carolyn Herbst

Dear Colleagues:

We have now completed the 2006-07 school year and are embarking on the 2007-08 year.

We are well into the 21st century and the “Information Age.” It is our job to provide members of the UFT Committee for Members Who Are Capably Disabled with the assistance and information they require, but we must do it in consonance with the “Information Age” and “The Age of Computers.” Like you, I am rapidly learning about the speed and beauty of the use of the Web to get out information. I hope you and I continue to keep up with all the possibilities.

This Web page has lots of features: information about our committee, our newsletter, our meeting minutes, our general meetings and steering committee meetings schedules, a news and events section, and many useful links.

Above all, ours is a committee that has a “human touch.” We meet as a group for steering and speakers, we celebrate our anniversary with cake and champagne, we have our June and winter dinners and we have the occasional cultural outing.

Our UFT Liaison, Eugene Rubin is always available by phone at 1-212-598-7711 and via e-mail at grubin@uft.org to help UFT members get the reasonable accommodations they need under the ADA and state and city law.

I wish to thank the committee staff and the UFT staff for making all this possible.
