Offers information and support for people with lung cancer and their families. Alzheimer's Assoc., NYC Chapter American Cancer Society Provides information on cancer and early detection. Sponsors patient services such as Reach-To-Recovery for breast cancer patients. Information and services are provided through a nationwide network of agencies that can be contacted via the 800 number listed above. American Diabetes Assoc., Greater NYC Area Arthritis Foundation, New York Chapter, Breast Cancer Examination Center of Harlem Provides free breast and cervical cancer screening exams, support groups, counseling and referral services. Cancer Care, Inc. Provides support, information and practical help to people with cancer and their families. Professional counselors offer individual and group services. Cancer Information Service of the National Cancer Institute Health specialists provide up-to-date information on cancer, including cancer treatments; clinical trials; cancer detection; community services and publications. Free Mammograms: Gilda’s Club, Inc A "cancer support community" that provides networking groups, lectures, workshops, social events for adults and special programs for children and adolescents affected by cancer.
Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein Cancer Center Provides cancer patients and their families with help in dealing with the emotional stresses of cancer and its treatment.
SHARE: Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer Provides peer group counseling and information services for women and their families with breast or ovarian cancer. Us Too: Prostate Cancer Survivors Support Groups Operates a hotline and sponsors, at various locations in the five boroughs, peer support groups for prostate cancer survivors and their families.
