There’s great news in my school! I’m going to have a baby and a para down the hall is adopting one. What are our rights to take a leave?
Every UFT member — male and female — has some access to time off to be with a newborn or young child.
Full-time paraprofessionals may be eligible for leaves of absence for restoration of health or leaves under the federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). They also can use the days in their cumulative absence reserve (CAR).
