Drugs: What Every Parent Should Know

WHAT YOU CAN DO

  1. Talk with your child about what's worrying you. Keep the lines of communication open. The key to keeping kids from using drugs is talking to them, early, often and firmly—so they get better information than they would from the streets.
  2. Talk to someone who knows your child in school— the teacher, guidance counselor, drug counselor or principal. They can help you decide where to go for help.
  3. Call or visit your local school-based drug program; the contacts are listed in this pamphlet.
