A Plan Book for Social Justice Teachers

Recommended by Margrit Pittman-Polletta, PS 24, Brooklyn

It works for me - 1

I get great ideas from “A Plan Book for Social Justice Teachers” , which is filled with all kinds of resources for teachers of all levels and subjects. The book includes birthdays of social justice activists, dates of movements throughout history, projects and links to lesson plans.

It has different strategies used by social justice teachers across the country — for lessons about racism, for example, as well as for organizing parents around protecting public education. It helps me stay connected to the world outside the classroom and to remember why I’m a teacher: so my students learn that the world is a place where they can fight for what they believe in and work for change.
