The creativity and talents of our Bronx new teachers were on display at the Black History Month Poetry Jam hosted by the Bronx Borough Office. The event was open to both new and experienced teachers. Everyone represented themselves and their schools very well.
A great time was had by all. Kai Moo Too a third year teacher at P.S. 41 was elated. “I have never done anything for the union before. This provided me with a unique opportunity to share another side of myself with my peers.”
The event was the first of what the organizers hope will be an annual event. “This is what it is all about,” said Jose Vargas, Bronx Borough Representative. “I am overwhelmed by the talents of our teachers. They deserve this opportunity.”
The Bronx New Teacher advisory committee is committed to working with the Bronx Borough Office in order to ensure that a strong contingent of new teachers continues to be present at future Bronx Borough Office events.
