Shanker scholarship deadline approaching
Each year, the Albert Shanker College Scholarship Fund awards $1 million to deserving students from low-income families. College advisers and guidance counselors at high schools can help by making sure that seniors take advantage of this great opportunity by applying for a scholarship.
The UFT has sent hard copies of the application to all school college advisers and guidance counselors. The application and the instruction sheet are also available online and may be easily downloaded from the UFT website at www.uft.org/scholarship-fund.
Applications must be submitted by Jan. 31, so it is important for students to be informed of the availability of these scholarships as soon as possible.
The annual award ceremony will take place in June.
