What you need to maintain city health insurance for your dependents

Do you have dependents covered by your city health plan? During the month of June, all New York City in-service and retired members will be receiving a letter from the City of New York Health Benefits Program outlining new paperwork requirements to verify and continue their dependents’ coverage. Members must submit paperwork in order to continue dependent coverage.

The letter you will receive from the New York City Health Benefits program outlines the types of documentation and the dates this information is due. There is a choice between sending documentation via hard-copy, fax or the Internet. In any case, the documents you send will be destroyed after the process of verification is completed, in order to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of all data.

While the Municipal Labor Committee representing the city’s unions has not agreed to this process, we will keep members informed as to their responsibilities.
