    In “History in their own backyard” [Jan.4], a caption mistakenly identifies Lillian Wald as a social worker. She was a graduate of the New York Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1891 and saw a need for nursing services to help poor immigrant families living on the Lower East Side.

    In regards to the article “The magical world of words” [Jan. 4], some parents have objected to the use of “Harry Potter” books in public school classrooms. These books tell of Wicca, which is recognized by the United States government as a religion and given tax-exempt status.
