Death benefits for in-service members

In the event of a member’s death, the UFT Welfare Fund provides a benefit that is payable on a decreasing scale to the beneficiary(ies) of in-service members. This benefit is in addition to any privately held insurance coverage the member may have.

Members will be receiving this information letter in the mail along with new GHI/Empire cards in late November-December. GHI and Empire Plans are changing to a Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) Plan, Effective January 1, 2010.
