Achieving our political goals

Just two years ago, with a hostile new administration in the White House and with the Janus case bearing down on us at the Supreme Court, things looked much bleaker. We didn’t panic. We had a plan, and we took it one step at a time.

A member-made contract

At the heart of this contract is the belief that if you want to achieve something significant, you have to empower the people who do the work.

The limits of testing

New York State has begun to undo the legacy of lost instruction and parental anger brought about by the testing craze championed by the school “reform” movement. But it still has a ways to go to create a genuine culture of support for the schools and teachers that our children need.


The state of the union

We have a lot of work ahead of us to ensure the UFT remains a formidable force, but we have reason to be optimistic. 

Mayor’s budget credibility problem

We’re all coming together — members of all the unions in the Municipal Labor Committee — for a rally on June 12 outside City Hall to tell the mayor enough is enough.
