U.S. trails other countries in advanced math

When it comes to the percentage of students testing at the advanced level in math, the United States ranks only 30th out of 56 countries, way behind the top four countries — Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Finland — says a new report from Harvard University called “U.S. Math Performance in Global Perspective.”

Attendance in grade 8 is the strongest factor for predicting on-time high school graduation and is a consistent indicator of schools with the highest and lowest graduation and Regents diploma rates, says a September 2010 report released by the Campaign for Fiscal Equity.
