Awards in District 26

The District 26 Parent-Teacher Alliance held its second annual scholarship dinner dance in Queens on May 8. The theme was “Celebrating the Past, Present and Future.” Awards were given to students in early childhood, elementary education, middle schools and high schools. Another award was given to the “Most Improved Special Education Student.” The awards were presented by, among others, UFT President Randi Weingarten, UFT Vice President for Elementary Schools Michelle Bodden; UFT Vice President for Middle Schools Richard Farkas and UFT District 26 Representative Mary Vaccaro. The Alliance was formed in September 2006 so that parents and educators would have a forum to discuss issues in the belief that schools will improve if educators and parents work together.
