Six Manhattan public schools were among the honorees at Manhattan Media’s sixth annual Blackboard Awards ceremony at the New-York Historical Society on Oct. 16. PS 87, PS 110, PS 334, MS 126, MS 18 and Bard High School Early College were cited for “excellence in education.” Jerry Goldman, UFT Manhattan borough representative, congratulated the winners and praised the “fruits of collaboration among students, parents, teachers and administrations. When it comes to the common goal of helping our kids become positive contributors to the global community, we are all on the same page.” The event was hosted by former New York City high school teacher Frank McCourt, who received a Pulitzer Prize in 1996 for his book “Angela’s Ashes” and also penned “Teacher Man,”an account of his many years as a New York City public school teacher.
