Curtain up

The great striped door — entry way to the Carl Lefton Theatrical Design Center — honors the retired originator of the school’s theatrical productions who died last year.

The critics raved that the Edward R. Murrow HS student production of “The Producers” puts another star in their roster of smash-hit musicals. Every year the Brooklyn school mounts two major productions and two smaller-scale theatrical ventures. “The Producers” played to a full house for five performances last month.

Watch out, Broadway, these student stars portraying Max Bialystock and Ulla may soon be knocking on your doors.

In addition to the behind-the-scenes student crew, these are the teachers who help make it happen: (seated, from left) Roberta Raymond, choreographer; Daria McCloskey, makeup; and Director Rory Schwartz; and (standing from left) communication arts teachers Lawrence Nadel and Robert Elstein, and retired teacher Robert Ellman.
