The fifth annual Hispanic Affairs Gala at the UFT Bronx office on Nov. 29 was an evening with everything for the close to 300 guests who attended. They enjoyed entertainment, speeches, good food, camaraderie and dancing with the proceeds of the good time earmarked for the AFT Latino Caucus, New York State Chapter scholarship fund. Awards for advocacy for ELL Latino students were presented to Manhattan Borough Representative Jerry Goldman and Bronx Borough Representative Jose Vargas. UFT President Randi Weingarten received the Dr. Antonia Pantejos Education and Labor Vanguard Award.
