The president visits ... Gauthier Institute for Law and Public Policy, the Bronx

Weingarten answers some last-minute questions before the school day begins.

It was a very upbeat morning for UFT President Randi Weingarten’s visit to Gauthier Institute for Law and Public Policy on Oct. 18, coming on the heels of the announced win for 55/25 retirement. While the large turnout of staff were delighted with the news, they also had other things on their mind. Housed in a factory turned into a modern school site four years ago, the conversion provided no gym or auditorium. The union president suggested checking building codes to make sure students are not participating in gym classes in an inappropriate facility.
