Honors in Queens

Freiser (left) receives her award from Parker.

Two kids got nice fat savings bonds, UFT Queens Borough Representative Rona Freiser was toasted by her colleagues and nearly 500 members of the District 24 family celebrated the night away at Russo’s in Howard Beach on April 17. “Every once in awhile in your lifetime someone special comes along and touches your heart,” said UFT District 24 Representative Rosemary Parker, who emceed the event. “One of those people, for so many of us, is Rona Freiser. She’s a great labor leader and believes in collaboration between administrators and the union as the best way to get things done.” Parker organizes the scholarship dinner dance each year as a way to bring everyone in District 24 together and to celebrate those who have gone the extra mile on behalf of kids and teachers. Also honored were Queens Borough President Helen Marshall, PS 113 Principal Anthony Prazo, IS 77 AP Rick Marino and PS 91 PTA Co-President Christina DeSimone.

The awardees and friends get together for a group shot.
