The New York City Association of Foreign Language Teachers/UFT, in collaboration with the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers, held its annual professional conference — “World Languages: Teaching Locally, Reaching Globally” — on Oct. 27 at UFT headquarters. Nearly 350 educators attended the daylong conference that included three workshop sessions, each offering a choice of nine different workshops on five foreign languages. Workshops ranged from “Get Them Talking” to “Teaching Chinese Language and Culture by the Chopsticks-Fork Principle.”
